I've Got Bette Davis Eyes for These China Glaze Vintage Vixen Nail Lacquers for Fall 2010 - Makeup and Beauty Blog
China Glaze Vintage Vixen
Accept I ever told you almost my obsession with 1940s style? Yup, ever since high schoolhouse. For a fourth dimension I was actually dressing the part, too, similar I was an extra in Swing Kids, wearing Veronica Lake waves, red lips, fishnet stockings — the whole shebang.
Now I'grand more of a tank tops and jeans kinda girl, only I however get my '40s fix whatsoever way I tin can. Mainland china Glaze'southward new Vintage Vixen collection helps.
Arriving July vi for virtually $v each, the 12 dark fall greens, burgundies, blues, taupes and silvers (Annotation: Fall? Can you say early much?! ) evoke '40s film noir with a modern day twist.
Sparkle's a fundamental histrion in this drama, as the unabridged cast of characters features some kind of low-cal-catching finish, ranging from micro-glitters to frosts to shimmers. It's been a recurring theme for China Glaze's autumn collections, with both of the previous 2, Retro Diva and Rodeo Diva, doing something similar.
But where Retro and Rodeo crafted a more playful, whimsical tale, Vintage Vixen's darker story feels more like pulp fiction in paint. I similar information technology, though (if I put my heed that far ahead in time), and feel similar it'due south right on point for autumn.
My nails become through a lot of abuse, but China Glaze polishes always put upwardly with it well as far as chipping is concerned. Information technology'due south been a long fourth dimension since I've compared their immovability to Lippmann or OPI polishes, only for me CG polishes take e'er held their own.
The Vintage Vixen polishes use without streaking and are easy to layer, with two coats producing a fully opaque wait.
Ane of my favorites? Emerald Fitzgerald, the deep, shimmery green. Information technology hit me in the gut, not only because it appears China Glaze gave props to one of my favorite authors of all fourth dimension (or did they intend to channel Ella??), but too because of the color.
I also really like two of the neutrals… Classic Camel looks like a fuzzy wool coat in a bottle, and Swing Infant's similar a party on my nails!
Prc Glaze Vintage Vixen: Your take?
Being a fall drove, it might have some getting used to these darker colors, but I'm in that location.
What practice you recall? Is Vintage Vixen too early for fall?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
